My name is: Loella Haskew My age is: 66 My occupation is: CPA, local businesswoman Education and Qualifications: Walnut Creek is the American dream--a safe and friendly community with a vibrant business environment and with an exceptional quality of life. I have worked, lived, and volunteered in the Walnut Creek community for over 30 years. I am running for City Council because I believe my skills, experience, strength and independence make me uniquely qualified both to sustain the achievements of the visionaries who made Walnut Creek what it is today and to tackle the challenges that lie ahead. I am a practicing CPA and have been a partner in a Walnut Creek accounting firm for 10 years. Over my 30 years as a financial professional, I have honed the ability to listen, identify key information, and develop workable solutions that foster success. Last year, I worked for nine months on the City's Blue Ribbon Task Force on Fiscal Health which allowed me to apply my decades of professional experience to issues we face as a community. This provides a solid foundation to understand the complexities of municipal finance as we address our future fiscal decisions. Beyond my business experience, I have always believed in giving back to my community. My commitment has spanned decades. Currently, I am on the Boards of the Cancer Support Community, Diablo Regional Arts Association, and Kennedy-King Memorial Scholarship Fund. I have served on the Library Foundation Board, the Walnut Creek Arts Vision Task Force, and as Yes for Walnut Creek treasurer. If elected, I will help strengthen our local economy; protect our parks, open space, and cultural services; assure a safe environment for our residents and visitors; and find the proper fiscal balance for our City's future. I pledge to represent all the citizens of Walnut Creek with diligence and dedication. On Nov. 6, please vote for Loella Haskew for City Council. For more details, visit http://www.LoellaHaskewWC.com |
