The Navy sent my wife and me to California in 1968. We moved to Danville in 1974. After the Navy, I worked for Citibank as a lending officer and BofA in the corporate retirement plan part of the Trust Department. Since 1984, I have been an independent businessman in Contra Costa. I was appointed to the Contra Costa Planning Commission in 1989, and the Board has continued to reappoint me. My current appointment is up in 2016. I graduated from Colgate University in New York with a liberal arts degree. After the Navy, I went to school in the evenings at CSEB and earned an MBA in Finance, and then I earned a law degree from Golden Gate University in the City. I taught Law and Finance at the university level for more than twenty-five years. While teaching, I learned a lot more from my students than I did when I was a student. I have also served as a member of the board of directors of The California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda and John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill. Since 1984, I have earned my living in Contra Costa as a Realtor specializing in property management. Between my activities as a Realtor and as a County Planning Commissioner, I have learned a great deal about Contra Costa County and its residents. I've learned how to balance the protection of the environment with the effects of inevitable growth and the demands for increased infrastructure. |
