My name is: Ron Borland

My age is:

My occupation is: Teacher/Writer

Education and Qualifications:

Democracy is based on three principles-accountability, active participation by citizens, and a system where the people's interests and well-being are served above all others. As your City Councilman I will work to provide an ethical, transparent government that seeks to govern in partnership with Oakley residents. I will provide regular opportunities for outreach and discussion with community members always remembering that I'm a community member like all others, here to govern by your consent and with your input. I believe in smart growth and that our Planning Commission should be reestablished. I also believe maintaining Oakley's rural character and identity should play a large role in all planning decisions.

During my 25 years in Oakley I have served on the Oakley Incorporating Committee, Oakley Ranch Homeowners' Association Board, the County Maternal and Adolescent Health Advisory Board, and Delta Democratic Club. I also coached several youth soccer, basketball, and baseball teams and, while semiretired, still substitute teach in the Oakley Union School District and recently taught an ESL/American Culture class at a local college.

It's been a privilege meeting new friends and old and hearing your concerns in preparation for this election. It would be an honor to serve you.
