My business experience and financial expertise as the retired Vice President of Operations for a major United States manufacturer and retired U.S. Army Reserve Colonel have given me leadership skills and the ability to embrace challenge. Both will serve me well to ensure fiscal discipline and maintain a balanced budget and healthy reserve fund.

I'm involved in many volunteer and leadership roles in our community: 2005-2012 President, Fourth of July Commission; founder, Firecracker 5K Fun Run raising more than $70,000 for Pleasant Hill schools; member and past president of Pleasant Hill Rotary. I was 2007 Citizen of the Year and 2008 Mayor's Award Recipient. I am honored to be the February 2012 Pleasant Hill City Channel "Home Town Hero."

I founded and am Program Manager for Pleasant Hill's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), training over 400 residents in neighborhood disaster preparedness. I am committed to keeping Pleasant Hill safe, both as a police volunteer and because I know our residents respect and appreciate our police officers' dedication to public safety.

As a Planning Commissioner for 5 years, I've reframed our ordinances to preserve what's best about our neighborhoods and help businesses flourish. As a member of the City's Economic Development Committee, I'm helping rebrand the City, attracting businesses to sustain our sales tax base.

My wife Sandy and I have raised our children here and we too love Pleasant Hill. I'll work hard to maintain City services to enhance neighborhoods and keep our community strong.
