Mayor; City of Brentwood

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

My name is: Steve Barr

My age is: 56

My occupation is: Brentwood Vice-Mayor/Local Business Owner

Education and Qualifications:

As a Brentwood small business owner over the last 32 years, I've learned critical economic lessons like respecting balance sheets, customers and financial markets.

I serve Brentwood residents like my customers, stretching taxpayer dollars, always trying to maintain the level of public service our residents expect. I've witnessed wasteful spending drain valuable resources that should've gone to fund our police/fire. That's why I'm running for Mayor, to prevent unnecessary expenditures, instead, directing resources to programs that'll improve the quality of life for our residents. I'm a taxpayer advocate, fighting to maintain a balanced budget, at a time when Brentwood needs more fiscal oversight, because of the recession & state raids on local government.

As Vice-Mayor, I've personally attracted businesses to Brentwood, using my background as parent and educator to promote the strength of our public schools; an attribute employers take seriously when considering whether or not to invest. Supporting local education also helps protect our property values.

I've been volunteering in Brentwood since 1981, serving as: Trustee - Liberty Union High School District, Coach Pony Baseball/CYO Basketball/EDYSL Soccer, President Liberty Athletic Boosters, Chairman 1997 Downtown Cornfest, Chairman Art Wine & Jazz Festival.

I hope my years of leadership earned your vote.
