CANDIDATE STATEMENT CITY OF ANTIOCH, MAYOR

Education and Qualifications:

Antioch is at a crossroads. We can either accelerate into a hopeful future or we can remain mired in increasing crime, blight, and decreasing home values. The choice is ours to make! The status quo is unacceptable to many of us. How do we create the change we want with a much lower property tax base, without overspending into bankruptcy? We have to live within our means by utilizing technology, implementing best practices, creating efficient government, and delivering vital services.

As I speak with residents from all backgrounds and perspectives, it is clear that we want our leaders to lead. We want them to be honest and inclusive. Let's get to work! First, we should keep a balanced budget with residents input. Second, we should support funding enhancements for police and code enforcement. Third, we should target the industries of the 21st century to attract them to Antioch providing the jobs we desire. If we're successful, Antioch will be a destination not a departure point.

The mayor of Antioch should be able to articulate that vision and push for a blueprint for growth.

My wife, Robin, and I have raised our family here in Antioch. Our children have graduated from Antioch schools. I have served our community on the AUSD school board, the Economic Development Commission, and now as a councilmember. I will be your mayor, a mayor for all of Antioch.
