Lisa Nelson - PUSD Governing Board Member

I have been a dedicated Paradise Unified School District volunteer for 16 years, including the last 4 as a school board member. My experiences as a parent volunteer included serving as a School Site Council president, Ponderosa Parent Organization member and Superintendent Parent Advisory member. I also served on 3 budget committees, getting my first look at school finances. I came to the board with a parental background. My philosophy as a board member these past 4 years has been to look at all sides of an issue and vote in a way that would support student success while maintaining the health and stability of our school district.

With PUSD facing major fiscal challenges these last 4 years, we have been able to establish or maintain valued school programs that I supported. Some of these include school safety, E Learning Academy, advanced placement, vocational and music courses, and the new high school gymnasium.

Thank you for considering me for re-election as a governing board member for the Paradise Unified School District. I support and believe in our students, our school district, and our community. Even under tough budgetary times, I will continue to make decisions that best support them.
