Proven Leadership

Dan Cunningham along with his wife, Holly and three sons, Andrew, Brandon and Christopher have lived in the City of Dublin for over 17 years. During that time he has been an active leader in the community. Beside being a Trustee for the Dublin Unified School District, he also serves on the Board of Directors of Open Heart Kitchen which serves free hot meal to anyone in need in the Tri-Valley. In addition, Dan served as the Scoutmaster for ten years for his sons' Boy Scout Troop. As Scoutmaster, he helped over 30 young men achieve Boys Scouts highest honor, Eagle Scout, including all three of his sons.

Qualifications

Over the last four years, schools throughout the state continue to face financial pressure. Our representatives in Sacramento continue to put off dealing with the State financial mess. Their unwillingness to make the tough decisions and clean up the State's financial house put extreme pressure on all the school districts in the state. The Dublin Unified School District is no exception. Dan has the experience and expertise to help Dublin Schools during these difficult economic times. Dan has a BA in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an MBA from California State University, Long Beach. In addition to a strong educational background, Dan has over 20 years of progressive experience as a financial executive. Currently, Dan owns his own Tax and Accounting practice which focuses on helping small business.

Goals

Over the next four years, the district needs to focus on the following:

1) Closing the achievement gap so that all our students are successful and prepared for college, career or service to our country.

2) Maintaining the fiscal integrity of the district. The district needs to continue to find local funding to help offset the loss of State funding.

3) Effectively and efficiently implement the remaining programs from the Measure C funds as well as the new Measure E funds.
