GOALS for Pleasanton by Karla BrownBy Karla BrownCandidate for Council Member; City of Pleasanton | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My 5 key goals for Pleasanton are:I am an advocate for "Slow and Smart Growth" policies, which are needed to preserve our small-town character. Future development should be gradual and well planned. Our city, however, is facing unsustainable growing debt and conservative measures are needed. Raising taxes is not the answer! As a local business woman, I will work collaboratively to find responsible solutions to our budget problems. Over the past 5 years, I have been a leader of open space and ridge-line protection, leading the way to the passage of the two strict preservation measures; both were overwhelmingly approved by city voters. Currently, I am a member of the Pleasanton's Eastside Specific Plan-Task Force. As a group of concerned citizens and stakeholders, we are looking at options for the 1000 acre land which also includes 3 large lakes. Together with my husband and 3 daughters, we moved to Pleasanton 21 years ago because it was better place to raise our family. I am a frequent volunteer for groups such as: The Pleasanton Heritage Assoc., Valley Humane Society, RAGE Soccer, my HOA, The Women's Council of Realtors, Pleasanton schools and more. I have the time and the passion to be a leader that listens and represents the people of Pleasanton. Visit http://www.Vote4Karla.com for more information. I would be honored if you would vote + Karla Brown for City Council. |
