Candidate for
Member of the State Assembly; District 9

Tom Santos was the Democratic Party's nominee for the 2nd District seat of the California State Board of Equalization in 1998 and 2002, and for Congress in the 11th District in 2000.

Santos, a tax, business, and real estate consultant, owns and works his business in Elk Grove. Among his diverse business background, he co-founded and was the CEO of an independent record label company based in Sacramento and the Bay Area. As a broker, he was owner/broker of his own real estate and mortgage office and was the corporate broker of an upstart real estate company. Currently, he works as an auditor-appraiser for the state.

Santos' family arrived and settled in Sacramento in 1969. Santos moved to Elk Grove in 1996. He graduated fom Luther Burbank High School and attended Sacramento City college and California State University-Sacramento before serving in the U.S. Air Force. Santos completed his first college degree from Santa Clara University during his four-year tour of military duty. Santos earned a second bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. After returning to Sacramento, he attended local community colleges in the area to earn his real estate broker's license.
