Rudy Ramirez is currently in his second term in the Chula Vista City Council. As a lifelong resident of Chula Vista, Rudy has deep roots in our bi-national region where he has built a home with his wife, Sylvia, and his 11-year-old daughter. He is an entrepreneur who started a welding and metal fabrication business in 1986, which has grown to become San Diego Architectural Metals, with multiple manufacturing facilities. With his decades of business experience, Rudy understands firsthand how to balance a budget, make payroll, and develop his enterprise responsibly by incorporating sustainable business practices, including local and regional sourcing.

Rudy attended Castle Park High School and Southwestern College and graduated from California State University Chico with a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations and Economics. As part of his commitment to lifelong learning, he recently attained professional certificates in International Trade and Business, World Class Manufacturing, and Total Quality Management from the University of California, San Diego and the University of San Diego.

Rudy has been actively involved in civic affairs for many years, including his volunteer service on the World Affairs Council of San Diego and the Advisory Council for the San Diego Center for the Blind. He has also served on the City of Chula Vista's Board of Ethics, 2004 General Plan Update Steering Committee and the Citizens Advisory Committee for Chula Vista Bayfront Development with the Port of San Diego. He is a member of the Chula Vista Kiwanis, along with civic groups such as Crossroads II and the South Bay Forum.
