Public Safety

By Arturo Chavez

Candidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 51

Safe Communities
As a long-time resident of the district I have fought aggressively to keep gangs out of our neighborhoods, to improve lighting in areas where criminals might dwell, and to make sure that our children are safe in our schools, parks and other recreation areas. That's why I have worked for over a decade to increase anti-drug and anti-gang programs in our schools. We will ask our local churches to establish after school programs to provide our young people with safe options. I understand that we cannot have active and engaged citizens unless we assure public safety and security in our communities. Good jobs and good education are part of the solution and we all know that simply building more prisons is not the answer to our social problems. I will use my local Assembly offices to build secure communities by asking local individuals, organizations and churches to get involved with my office. Together, we will make our homes, streets, schools and parks safer.
