Personal History

Prior to serving on the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors, Jim Patterson's professional accomplishments include owning a nursery business, managing a farming/ranching enterprise, and spearheading the water conservation program for the Atascadero Mutual Water Company.

As a businessman and community leader, Jim has listened carefully and worked effectively with others to find creative solutions to complex problems. In the process, he has earned a reputation as someone who can build bridges between people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse interests.

A Native Californian and Cal Poly graduate with a degree in Natural Resources Management, Jim Patterson is a Certified Arborist and former owner of Bay Laurel Garden Center.
