Official Statement for Tim Murphy
Candidate for |

Occupation: Engineer Since moving to California in 2000, I have watched as the City of San Jose has struggled to meet its fiscal responsibilities. Having taken draconian measures year after year to balance its budget, the city is becoming less and less effective in providing the services the public needs and expects. Before I came to California, I was a city council member in Hudson, Ohio. I resigned the office only after taking advantage of a career opportunity here in Silicon Valley. Although the city has a population only one quarter that of District 2, it faced many of the same issues facing larger communities. The city also had its own municipal water and electrical utilities, which added to my experiences. When I left council, I was in my fifth year having been elected twice. Prior to that, I was a member of' the Zoning Commission for six years where I served as chairman for four of those years. San Jose is currently experiencing many challenges. It is time for new ideas and bold action. It needs a candidate who is experienced, responsible, dedicated to the job, and puts the interests of the people of San Jose first. I am that candidate. |
