Questions & Answers

1. What experience related to city government would you bring to the City Council?

I am a fiscal conservative and worked hard in my previous council position to save tax payer's money and fought against tax increases.

2. What concerns are of particular importance to the city and how would you address them?

The biggest concern is with the city budget. Right now pensions consume about 1/3 of the budget and it will only get worse if changes are not made. Measure B, which I support, was placed on the June ballot in an attempt to reign in these costs. I will work with the mayor on future initiatives to save costs in other areas as well.

3. How would you balance the needs of the city as a whole with groups’ interests?

In my view, the interests of the citizens of San Jose, in general, and District 2, in particular, come first. I will listen to the proposals of "interest" groups but will not entertain them if they violate or put in jeopardy the interests of the public.
