Why I am runningBy Valerie Burchfield RhodesCandidate for Member, Democratic Party County Central Committee; County of Orange; State Assembly District 73 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My priorities are to grow voter registration amongst Democrats and to work towards electing people who are going to advocate for the middle class and the disadvantaged in our community. After a lifetime of following politics, volunteering on campaigns, circulating petitions and writing letters to the editor, I decided to step my political involvement up to the next level. Running for Central Committee is a way to direct my energies and ideas in a way that will have a greater impact on county politics. My goal is to utilize my background to bring like minded organizations together in Orange County through social media networking and good old fashioned face-to-face networking. I plan to work towards expanding the strength and organization of the Democratic Party in Orange County with the goal of encouraging solid, progressive candidates to run for office. Issues of personal importance to me are access to affordable healthcare for all, women's reproductive rights, equal rights for LGBT individuals and separation of church and state. If you are a registered Democrat in the 73rd Assembly District, I hope you will vote for me on June 5th. Valerie Burchfield Rhodes, Laguna Niguel, CA |
