Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Drew Tipton

Candidate for
Councilmember to succeed John Martinez if recalled; City of Greenfield

This information is provided by the candidate

The City of Greenfield needs change. The City of Greenfield is facing a financial crisis. The City Council has already declared a State of Emergency in order to put the Sales Tax issue on the ballot. We need to change now!

City Services have suffered. Many city offices are only open limited hours. The Police Department initiated changes that resulted in dramatically limited responses (and this was not very well publicized!). The City has initiated furlough days for its employees. All of this reduces the services that are available for the residents! This needs to change!

The City has a serious Law Enforcement problem. There are too few officers available to provide adequate response. Those that are, until the recent audit, were improperly trained and managed. We need to find the best way to provide the police services to the community. Do we contract with the County? Do we merge departments with Soledad, who is also now facing financial difficulties? Do we continue with the status quo, and just let what happens happen? We can not do this. We must do what is best for our community. We must find the balance between what we can afford and what we need. I will do diligence to find that center-ground.

Status Quo has GOT to Go!
