I believe in a pragmatic philosophy that we must do what we can make life best for all. It must be understood that we should do no harm. All should have a right to a decent start in life and that we should support parents in their rearing of their children.

Everyone deserves an opportunity which should include healthcare, education, housing, food and safe working conditions. Too many employers seem to have forgotten that their workers help provided the goods and services that the corporations provide.

We need to rebuilt a strong middle class. After World War II we built the strongest economy in the world. It was the GI Bill which pulled millions out of poverty and into being responsible citizens. We need to apply those programs to all now. We need to restore our safety net.

There is no debate. Capitalism is here to stay but that capitalism must be restrained by appropriate regulations so that what happen on Wall Street never happens again. We need regulations that protect our food, water and drugs. Corporations that harm should be made to pay.

Those who are involved in the Occupy Wall Street movement are letting us know that the free wheeling days of the investment community should be over.

We all want safery in our homes and one our streets. While we need public safety employees, we need to understand what the root causes of crime are and how we go about eliminating them. Inequality is one cause.

Our country was the first founded on the sovereignty of the people. That means we are entitled to free elections and the rule of law. It also means equality under that law.

Our Consitution is one of the greatest doctrines in history but it requires interpretation based on the principles it lays down, not an interpretation by small minded judges who fail to understand true equality.

For our future, we need to protect our environment including all living creatures and our natural resources. We need to stop the use of fossil fuels to stop global warming.

We need to be good stewards of all.
