Full Biography for Eric Robert Martin

|
Eric Martin was born in York, Pennsylvania in 1986. He is the son of Dr. Rick and Carolyn Martin. In 2007 he married his high school sweetheart, Melody Niphakis. Eric graduated from Dallastown High School in 2005 and from York College of Pennsylvania in 2010. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration. Eric is a Republican. During his time at Dallastown High School, Eric was involved in various activities. Eric participated in cross country all four years of high school. Eric swam for the high school swim team his Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior year. While on the team he excelled at sprinting and anchored two different relays at the Pennsylvania State Championships. High School was also a time when Eric grew spiritually. He started regularly reading the Bible, praying, and attending a Bible study in ninth grade. This continued throughout high school with his involvement in Young Life. Through Young Life Eric was able to bring his friends from school to various events where they could learn more about Jesus and the Christian faith. Eric also had the oppurtunity to volunteer for Young Life camps on their Work Crew. He was a dishwasher for approximately ten days in 2003 and in 2004 he washed dishes for about a month. In 2005 he was a served food at another Young Life camp for about a month Eric's Senior year of high school was when he decided to pursue Melody. He started by asking her, before any dates, "Would you marry me?" After a diagonal head shake, he asked her if the shake was a yes or a no, she answered him with a "yeah", and they have been growing closer ever since. After high school Eric attended Eastern University. His first semester was tough, because he wanted to be with Melody, and she was at another college. It was during this time that Eric asked Melody's father for her hand in marriage. He said "no", and proceeded to tell Eric what he required of someone who would marry his daughter. He told Eric that a Husband should be able to provide for his wife spiritually, financially, and physically. Eric reasoned that he had all but the middle one covered, and after that semester he left college to find a job. His parents thought his decision was rash, so they told him to find somewhere else to live. Eric found a friend who was just moving to a Baltimore suburb, and he went with him. Through a connection Eric found a great-paying job as an industrial centrifuge operator. He worked there for about nine months until the job ended. While there he had some long hours, including about two weeks straight of twelve hour shifts. With the work experience completed, Melody's father eventually agreed to let Eric marry his daughter, contingent on them both finishing college. Melody and Eric were married on August 18th, 2007, and finished out their education together at York College of Pennsylvania. Melody earned a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts in 2009. Eric earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a Minor in Business Administration, in 2010. During their time at college, they both worked part time at Eric's dad's practice: Martin Foot and Ankle. College was the time when Eric learned a lot about political ideologies. In 2008 he volunteered at the polls during the primary, handing out fliers about Republican Delegates for the Presidential race. In 2011 and 2012 he volunteered for a Republican presidential candidate, making over 800 phone calls for a presidential preference survey and for a "get out the vote" campaign during a primary. During his three years at Martin Foot and Ankle, Eric ran the MRI machine and ordered supplies. In ordering supplies he pitted various distributors against each other by going back and forth to them with competing prices on various products, and getting better prices on many products. While running the MRI, he got to talk to many people. One time a grandmother was getting an MRI and her grandson was with her. The grandson had the Pokemon card game, and since Eric had played before, he asked the child if he wanted to play. They tried to play but the game was too complex for the boy who was about eight years old. Later that day, the concept for the Animal Herders Card Game was born. Animal Herders is a very simple card game that a six year old can play. Children play with cards that protray various real animals made out of clay. As the game progresses opponents build and battle their herds. No animals die, they simply run away from the herd. After a few years of work from Eric, Melody, and a graphic designer, the game came to completion and is now for sale. After college Eric worked as a car sales consultant and as an account executive for a cell phone service premium retailer. Shortly after announcing his candidacy, Eric took a leave of absence from his job to focus on his campaign full time. He hopes to win the Republican Nomination for the 4th District of Pennsylvania and go on to secure a seat as a Congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives. He believes in a limited Federal Government as expressed in the U.S. Constitution. Eric believes that people on both sides of the aisle have failed to remain faithful to the Constitution. Eric Martin is running to win a seat in the House of Representatives for such a time as this. The United States is broke and broken. People in all branches of the Federal Government are working to undermine the U.S. Constitution, which is the Supreme Law of the Land. Ingenuity of the people of the United States made and will continue to make our private sector great; however, limited government embedded in the United States Constitution is what made our government great. Every new law which is unauthorized by the Constitution diminishes that greatness. Please stand with Eric in limiting the Federal Government. Our broken economy is from our over-regulation and mounting debt, all of which would have been prevented if we had followed the Constitution. We are not following the Constitution because we have lost our way. John Adams said, "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." We have strayed from our Judeo-Christian roots and must return to them if we want to thrive. |
