Property tax eliminationBy Tom A. HawkCandidate for State Representative; Pennsylvania State House of Representatives; District 102; Republican Party | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Property taxes can be eliminated by following the recommendations of the Pennsylvania Property Tax Association. The most important issue in this race is the lack of a viable property tax elimination plan for the Commonwealth. There are many elderly home and farm owners who can no longer afford their property taxes, losing these properties to sheriff sales. Legislators told voters if they approved gambling their property taxes would be reduced. Instead, the government funneled money to stadiums and other projects. It is time to earmark this money for the purpose promised to taxpayers. The Pennsylvania Coalition of Taxpayers Association has developed a plan that replaces revenues from property taxes with an increased statewide sales tax or local income taxes. |
