Fiscal Responsibility

By Pamela A. DeLissio

Candidate for State Representative; Pennsylvania State House of Representatives; District 194; Democratic Party

This information is provided by the candidate
All citizens and stakeholders must have input to the state budget process.
We continue to experience an improving but still challenging economic climate. It is incumbent upon government to create a budget that includes a thorough review of revenue opportunities in addition to ensuring that we are spending taxpayer dollars efficiently and effectively.

In 2011 the budget process excluded those from the minority party who represent 45.5% of the citizens of PA. To date this year, the budget process has excluded stakeholders. Stakeholders have first-hand information regarding how to spend dollars effectively and efficiently.

My continued concern is that the 2012/2013 proposed budget may project short term savings on paper; however, the mid and long term impact will likely be enhanced costs at the local level or the diminishment of program offerings (particularly in education and human services) as schools and organizations struggle to deliver quality, consistent service within unrealistic parameters.

During the course of my thirty year career, I consistently developed and implemented creative strategies to deliver high quality and cost effective services and solutions, including services for many lower-income seniors. I continually call on that experience in my capacity as a State Representative and will work to ensure the same result for the constituents of the 194th.
