I was born and raised in Cincinnati, and am the oldest of seven children. I am a graduate of the Summit Country Day School, Albion College in Albion, Michigan, and later earned a Master of Business Administration Degree in Finance from the Kogod School of Business at The American University in Washington, D.C. From 1993 to 1997, I worked in the public sector to help fellow Cincinnatians both in the district and in Washington, D.C. in my role as an aide to then-U.S. Congressman Rob Portman. In this capacity, I served as a caseworker, helping constituents in Ohio's Second Congressional District with federal matters. Later, as a Legislative Assistant, I served as Rob's point person on health care and federal budget issues in Washington, D.C. I gained valuable business and financial experience working for Rothschild Asset Management during business school, and then as a Vice-President in the Institutional Sales and Trading Division of the SoundView Technology Group, a boutique investment bank located in Old Greenwich, CT. Currently, I am a Principal at Truepoint, Inc., widely recognized as one of the nation's premier wealth management firms, and am a Certified Financial Planner, CFP®. In March of 2011, I was appointed to Cincinnati City Council to fill the unexpired term of Jeff Berding. During my time on Council, I fought to create jobs and bring economic development to our City, empowered citizens with tools to tackle blight and revitalize their neighborhoods, helped prevent a property tax increase, and spoke against wasteful spending projects. I have been married to my wife, Chris, for twelve years and have three children: Lily (8), twins Holland (5) and Trey (5), and a pug "Otis". |
