Candidate for
Member Council; Village of Golf Manor; Unexpired Term Ending 12/01/13

I am a current Golf Manor Councilmember who was recently appointed to a vacant council seat. I am a former Golf Manor Councilmember having served two terms from 1994 to 2002. I did not run for a third Golf Manor Council term as I became my Mother's caregiver for the next three years while she had Alzheimer's disease.

When I was elected in 1994, Golf Manor was $200,000 in the red with a possibility of going into fiscal emergency. When I left council in 2002, we were $30,000 in the black. While on council, I served on the Finance Committee for four years. Two of those four years as Finance Chairperson.

I am employed full-time with The Kroger Co. as Executive Assistant to the VP of Corporate Benefits at Kroger's General Office in downtown Cincinnati.

I have a long-time family history in Golf Manor. My aunt, uncle and cousin moved to Golf Manor in 1954 when they bought the two-family at 2417 Vera Ave.

My sister moved to our aunt's two-family in 1970 when she married David Foglesong. David was Golf Manor's first Recreation Director and then Golf Manor's first Village Administrator. He was also Captain of the Golf Manor Fire Department. They were Golf Manor homeowners at 6465 Fair Oaks where they lived and later they purchased my aunt's two-family at 2417 Vera Ave.

I have lived in Golf Manor since 1981. I moved to an apartment on Kellerman Avenue when I married a Golf Manor Volunteer Fire Department member. I later moved to my sister's two-family at 2417 Vera Ave. When my Father passed away in 1986, my Mother and I purchased a two-family on Vera Avenue where my sister and I are living.

I was a member of the Golf Manor Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary and served on many fund raisers to benefit the Golf Manor Fire department. I was also a member of Golf Manor's Recreation Department from 1981 until it folded in the late 1990's having worked on many committees including many Golf Manor festivals. Recreation has since been reestablished, and I will be committing my time with the new recreation department to help them succeed.

I have two married children and four grandchildren with another one due in December.

I grew up in Madisonville and have always lived in the Cincinnati area. I have lived in Golf Manor for 30 years and have totally enjoyed living here. I am totally vested in this community and care very much about the future of Golf Manor.

I have always enjoyed being on Golf Manor Council representing the people of this community. I have the necessary time it takes to commit to improving our community and keeping it safe and improving its infrastructure and parks.
