Brad Hawn is proud to call himself a lifelong resident of Modesto. He started his education at Franklin Elementary School and graduated from Modesto High before attending and graduating from University of the Pacific. His roots to the community cannot be questioned. Brad is a licensed civil and structural engineer, and for the last twenty eight years he has been a proud small businessman and employer to Modesto's residents. He has been active in the small business community, working with various organizations to improve and expand Modesto's economic engine. In 2003, Brad joined the City Council, and recognizing his skills as a small businessman, he was made Chair of the Finance Committee. In 2006, Brad was appointed Vice Mayor, and in 2009 was appointed as Vice Chair of the Economic Development Committee. There, Brad has taken a major role in putting the people of Modesto back to work. Brad helped institute the Economic Incentive Bank for Waste Water. This program enables companies to sell or donate their unused portion of their waste water allotment to other businesses. This has helped make the City more available for expansion or investment. Brad is working to put more people to work. Brad also started the North Valley Regional Recycled Water Projected, which created a partnership with the communities around Modesto. Through this partnership, treated wastewater was delivered to the water district to irrigate farms. Through his actions, more than 20,000 acres of farmland began receiving water and producing crops. Brad put more people to work. When not at work or working as a Councilman for the people of Modesto, Brad splits his time between the boards of the Memorial Hospital Foundation, Central California Art Association, Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Modesto Rotary Club, and CrossPoint Community Church. Brad has married to his wife, Nancy, for more than thirty years. Together they have three children and three grandchildren. |
