And then there's the educational aspect, anyone who takes on this kind of job will learn plenty.

As of late substitute teaching has become a very uncertain profession here in California... Stanislaus County. Never know what the next day brings. With the layoffs things have become that much more difficult, for everyone. If I serve on council I am sure I could find time to do what needs to be done, and then some. Have been giving thought as to how I could benefit Modesto's school districts with the dual occupation. More on that later. Have heard some talk about the city wanting to work more closely with the schools. I could see a more robust effort to get work for high school students and the benefits should be obvious.

Of course I and many others have concerns. We all want to be able to make a decent living, live safely, have good schools, have a functional higher education system, have a police department that doesn't get whittled away along with a plethora of other topics, many of which are vexing us daily. I do want Modesto to weather the storm and proceed to a normalcy that possibly could be an improvement to what we have had years previous. Going to take some effort and if we work together much is possible. I'll do the job to the best of my ability.
