Greetings My name is Larry Moody of the Community of East Palo Alto. I am running for the Sequoia School District Board of Trustee's in the November Election. I am a parent of Four Sons, Two thriving Menlo Atherton Seniors (twins): Cameron:, who plays Football, and Lacrosse. Isaiah, who has performed in three plays at MA and directed the student lead production of Hairspray last spring in Redwood City. Tyler (a Woodside graduate) and Larry Jr. are finishing up their college work.

My wife Lisa & I know firsthand today's challenges' for preparing young people for 21st Century Education, and we feel a partnership with the school and district that will continue after our Sons graduate in 2012

While serving as a Trustee for the Ravenswood City School District 2006-10. It became apparent that a commitment between the two Districts, towards sharing data, curriculum, teacher development,and new teaching methods supporting the outcome of these students was lacking. I worked intentionally to open better lines of communication. As Board President, I establish the two by two meetings once a month between two Board members and the Superintendents of both districts. I made it a point to meet with every principle and to learn first hand some of the innovative approaches by the sites towards addressing the Achievement Gaps. 2007 We launched a Program,Funded by California Ameri Corp and supported by the Sequioa Board to address the Achievemnt Gap called Build to Last. BTL was a Mentor/Academic Coach program that assisted 260 Ravenswood graduates attending Four Sequioa schools. The program was carried out on school campuses and when necessary at community based organizations in the neighborhood of the students.Build to Last made a hugh difference in the attendence,attitude and performance of those who participated. Sequoia is a Great District that has pro community with Tutorial support and vided great Leadership and Vision for our Students. Sequoia has attracted some of the most talented, committed Educators in the Country. Administration and Campus staff serves with a heart felt partnership for the success of every student. We see it in the well manicured campuses; our facilities are equipped to provide a healthy and focused learning environment. Our Athletic Teams & Club activities join to make campus life fun and rewarding for the Students.

I was appointed by the Sequoia Board to serve on the Bond Measure Committee, which provides oversight to our bond commitment to 1ST class facilities for our students. I want to be apart of the Leadership that maintains this culture of excellence. I bring a unique set of skills and perspectives that would greatly enhance the ability of the Board to serve Students, Evaluated, and Direct the Leadership of the Superintendent.
