I Am Against the Closure of Any District Schools

I am wholeheartedly and fundamentally opposed to the closure of any schools in the San Bruno Park School District.

I strongly believe that the schools of our district are assets that should be protected. I AM AGAINST THE CLOSURE OF ANY DISTRICT SCHOOLS.

I am for a district reconfiguration that makes sense and for open enrollment policies that allow parents to have the opportunities to choose schools in the district they feel best meet their children's needs.

I am for smaller classroom sizes and the elmination of split classes. I am for keeping teachers in the classroom, not eliminating them.

I am for open and honest communication with all stakeholders regarding the potential closure of schools. This includes parents, teachers and property owners. I am also strongly for complete transparency by all third party and volunteer redistricting committees.

As a parent and a homeowner in the affected school closure zones, I have not been engaged by the district in any discussions or information regarding the closure of schools, though the vote to close schools may be placed in front of the district board for action as early as January.

I am for greater transparency and proactive communication within the community with all stakeholders.

Once these schools are gone, they cannot be brought back. Classrooms will be lost and teachers will be given pink slips. Class sizes will continue to grow. Our children will continue to pay the price.

District schools should not be considered sources of revenue, but valuable community assets that should be fiercely protected.
