Budget and it's challengesOur budget much like budgets of other cities is facing major challenges due to shortfalls brought on by the economy.We are going to make difficult choices in determining which services we can continue to provide. A council committee is working on prioritizing all the things that we provide and their importance and necessity to the community. It is the belief that much belt tightening will help us through this economic slump.I personally work with many groups in our community and I have good iea of their needs and how they may be impacted by all of this. My intricate understanding of the city's operations I will implement adjustements that will have a minimal effect on our community. An example is our joining with the Cities of Daly City and Pacifica by forming a North County Fire Authority. There are other similar opportunities with other departments and services. I have lived through many austerity budgets and that knowledge and personal experience will help me facilitate changes with minimal impact to our community. |
