Engaging the community and making sure San Franciscans can make their voices heard is what my campaign to Reset San Francisco is all about.
Engaging the community and making sure San Franciscans can make their voices heard is what my campaign to Reset San Francisco is all about. I have been working with the team at Reset to crowdsource ideas around the most important issues. In addition to building an online community, we've hosted a number of offline, public events in the past seven months to bring San Franciscans together to discuss the issues that are important to them. These seven months of conversations on key issues are culminating in a series of panel discussions on policy solutions. The first panel discussion will be held in August and will focus on improving our transit infrastructure. Getting to workable solutions with San Franciscans, not behind closed doors, is an important goal.

And yet, as more and more San Franciscans get plugged in and go online, there are so many that are being left behind. That's why I launched a petition to guarantee universal Internet access for all San Franciscans. And as mayor, I will champion all efforts to close the digital divide and to make sure the underserved are able to access the Internet, look for job openings and to communicate with a web 2.0 government.

Cutting waste in government bureaucracy goes hand-in-hand with the issue of the Digital Divide in San Francisco. If we could ensure Internet access for all San Franciscans, we could also cut millions of dollars of waste on paper correspondence by moving to online contact between San Franciscans and City Hall.
