Statement of HOMER TONG, Candidate for
Member, Cupertino City Council
Occupation: School Board Member
Education and Qualifications:

In my five terms on the Fremont Union High School District Board of Trustees, I participated in making our high schools among the best in the nation. I can bring the same expertise and success to the Cupertino City Council. My priorities are:

Partnerships with Schools- Promote partnerships between the City and local businesses to benefit our award-winning schools.

Traffic Safety- Expand the partnership between the City and schools to manage traffic congestion.

Health and Clean Environment- As a professor of chemistry at DeAnza College, I am keenly aware of the consequences of pollution and will seek compliance of existing laws by Lehigh Cement plant.

Home Values- Our distinguished schools bring high value to our homes. I support sensible housing growth and enhancing our excellent community services, such as the library, senior center, and parks. I will continue to work to protect schools from further overcrowding.

Promote Business- Support Apple's and Chamber of Commerce's position to preserve commercial properties. I advocate green technology.

I value honesty, transparency, and community input. I will work with you to focus on what is best for Cupertino and its residents. I ask for your vote on Nov. 8. For details: http://www.homerforcupertino.com
