Philosophy:

So much about Cupertino is about schools. It is the reason why the vast majority of residents moved and live here.

Yet Schools have no representation on City Council. Since Schools are such an essential element in the fabric of this city and community it seems unreasonable for them not to be represents on the City. City Council is well represented by businessmen and high tech interests. But the stark absence of an educator on City Council seems remiss.

I feel that I must look after the interests of our youth and seniors who well represent our community but tend to be forgotten except perhaps during elections.

Not Representing Schools is no longer an option:

I feel that Cupertino schools will eventually become distressed due to inadequate funding from an ailing State.

If the schools are to maintain their high standards, it will require someone with an intimate knowledge of how schools are run to represent them on City Council.

As a Professor of Chemistry at De Anza College for 30 years, and as a 5 term Board Member of the High School District, I have dedicated my life to education.

My experience on the school board and in education makes me the ideal City Council candidate to help our schools remain high performing despite financial shortfalls.

I will bring more balance to City Council which is totally void of an educator.

But I realize that the city is more than just about schools. I understand the importance of attracting more businesses to the city to increase revenues and I champion a healthier, greener, more energy efficient and sustainable city.

Our city is well represented by Seniors and retirees. I would like to see more attention payed not only to providing them better services but providing them programs involving serving the community to bring more meaning into their lives. They are our most underutilized and treasured resource.
