Candidate for
Board Member; Marin Community College District

I have served 3 terms as a school board member and have enjoyed my tenure representing the interests of my district and the responsibilities that come with it. Now, I'd like to continue my service as a elected member of the College of Marin Board of Trustees.

Our community college district is faced with challenges that require experience and expertise. I have both. In my time as a school board member, I learned what it means to balance the needs of students, families, and taxpayers and I have been responsive and effective in representing the interests of my district.

As a small business owner who specializes in community college capital improvement projects, I am uniquely qualified to serve as trustee. I have hands on experience guiding community college teams in shared decision making processes that focus on effective uses of our taxpayers' resources. My business has saved California college districts hundreds of thousands of dollars, and has helped districts to stretch bond money+ accomplishing more with less.

In these times of financial hardship for many, we need creative thinking about how to deliver the highest quality of education for all our students, whatever their goals. As your COM trustee I will make sure our educational offering is in alignment with the true needs of the job market, that we act responsibly in taxpayer's interests, and that our campuses are good neighbors. I promise to bring a fresh perspective to the board and to be accessible and responsible.
