Andrew is a political moderate, a centrist who has always welcomed and worked with opposing interests and points of view. Never dogmatic, never an ideologue--Andrew's strength is his willingness to listen and then find pragmatic solutions.

Andrew is a longtime resident with significant leadership experience in San Rafael. His work as a lawyer (including as a municipal lawyer) and as a business leader gives him the skills to be an effective and responsive representative on the San Rafael City Council.

As a lawyer, Andrew has devoted countless pro bono hours to assisting those in need, from recent immigrants to impoverished families. In addition to his volunteer work, Andrew has served the legal community at the highest levels, and is the only lawyer in recent memory to have served on the boards of directors of both the Marin County and the San Francisco Bar Associations.

As a business leader, Andrew has been a passionate advocate for local businesses and a vibrant local economy. His stewardship of the Chamber of Commerce, his leading role for the Marin Economic Commission (where he succeeded Charles McGlashan as commissioner), and his appointment by Dominican University to its Business Advisory Board are all emblematic of his commitment to San Rafael's economic well-being.

Our legal and business communities know Andrew for his leadership, but so do our public educators. Andrew was twice appointed by the San Rafael School Board to key committees in order to address the future of our schools, their curriculum and their forms of governance. His work for our public schools has earned Andrew the endorsement of our superintendent of schools.

While Andrew's politics are decidedly moderate, he is not afraid to take on difficult issues. He has written forcefully about the need for public pension reform. Despite his leadership on this important issue, he has garnered the support of San Rafael's police and firefighters. All parties know that if sensible, fair solutions aren't negotiated, a solution that no one likes may be imposed at the ballot box.

Andrew's greatest concern is the overall health and satisfaction of San Rafael's residents and neighborhoods. He believes we must keep our communities livable and safe, and that public safety and social services must be joined as integral parts of our municipal compact.

Andrew enjoys the support of most of San Rafael's elected and appointed leaders for one reason: he is a thoughtful, experienced leader who is prepared for the challenges ahead.
