Why you should vote for David Johnston!

A brief summary of some of the advantages David brings to the board.

A few people have asked me why they should vote for me. Well here are some reasons:

1. I'm an experienced school board member. With two experienced board members leaving the board and two members in the midst of their first term, it is critical to have experienced board members as the district faces the challenges that will appear over the next four years.

2. Between my 4 years on the board and over 20 years of my career, I have learned and continue to learn about a variety of issues facing public education. I believe my knowledge helps me to be a better board members.

3. In my 4 years on the board, I've shown that I can make the difficult decisions that need to be made. Not every decision has been popular, but I've weighed the options and voted for the option that I felt best for our children, district staff and the community as a whole.

4. As a trustee, I represent the community in making certain the district meets the needs of our children. I take that responsibility representing you very seriously. I don't have loyalty to any other groups or individuals.

5. I'm deeply connected to this community. My great-grandfather came there from Italy to work in the logging industry and later planted vineyards. I was raised here in Ukiah, attending UUSD schools and sending my children and grandchildren to our local schools.

6. I"m endorsed by local officials such as Tom Allman and Paul Tichinin, current and retired UUSD staff, many parents and members of the community. These people know me well and know that I am dedicated to helping our school district better meet the needs of our students.

7. I'm approachable and happy to talk with members of our community about the district and public education in general.
