Salvador Ramirez for EMUHSD Board of TrusteesSalvador Ramirez is a proud, life-long resident of the South El Monte community and is an El Monte Union High School District (EMUHSD) graduate. After earning his high school diploma, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and served eight honorable years. After completing active duty in the Marines Corps, he used his well-earned G.I. Bill to attend Rio Hondo Community College and Long Beach State University. He then attended the University of California-Davis, as a Fellow of The National Institute of Health. After college, his employment experience included The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and The U.S. Department of Interior. He also worked in the non-profit sector, where he sought to educate, empower, and engage communities on environmental sustainable development issues and provide a national voice for communities before federal, state, and non-profit decision-makers. He is currently employed in the private sector providing environmental engineering consulting for several municipalities. In 2007, he was elected to the EMUHSD Board of Trustees, which oversees Rosemead High School, Mountain View High School, Fernando Ledesma High School, Arroyo High School, El Monte High School, South El Monte High School and The El Monte/Rosemead Adult School. Salvador fully understands the importance of a quality education. EMUHSD students deserve a first-rate education. He insists on the highest level of competence from our school district employees. His goals are to promote and solidify: SCHOOL SAFETY - To ensure that while we continue to build more classrooms and facilities for our students, we also provide safe, school environments that are conducive to learning. PARENT INVOLVEMENT - To advocate for the necessary resources to support family participation. ACCOUNTIBILITY - To work with our teachers and staff in order for high expectations to be met and a sense of urgency to be maintained in regard to the quality of classroom instruction. Over the past four years, he has helped build strong and enduring partnerships with our local schools, community college districts and four-year universities to provide students with a seamless path to career opportunities. He expects EMUHSD personnel to give our students the best possible education and every opportunity to succeed. He believes our students need to be academically and intellectually competitive in their post-secondary careers. He commits to ensuring this happens. He is proudly supported and endorsed by The California School Employees Association. |
