Parent InvolvementBy Janet ChinCandidate for Governing Board Member; Garvey School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I believe in programs and services that help empower parents and family members to help their children to be successful in school and in life.Over the past 4 years, I have diligently worked to empower parents by creating various programs and events that spotlight the importance of parent involvement in student achievement. I pushed our school administrators to implement Parent Involvement Academies, a Parent University featuring computer based skills taught to parents, and supported all functions of the PTA and beautification projects. This upcoming year, I will be introducing a Parent Involvement Plan that includes all stakeholders to participate in children's learning. As a parent of 3 children currently attending the Garvey School District, I truly understand the challenges that working families face with parent involvement. I will continue to ensure that families are kept informed of their child's progress and engaged in their schools. |
