Carol J. Rowley was born in Albany, California, graduated from U. C. Berkeley, attended graduate school and became a teacher at Albany Elementary School in Albany, California. In 1969, Carol and her husband Gerald F. Rowley, an optometrist, moved into their San Ramon home on Northland Avenue with their children. Carol continued her career in education where she accepted a position as the reading specialist for Country Club Elementary School. In addition, Carol became actively involved in the community as scout leader, soccer supporter, PTA President and other activities which supported the San Ramon youth.
Committed to her career as an educator, Carol attended California State University Hayward where she obtained her masters degree in Education Administration. In 1986, Carol became principal of Country Club Elementary School. In addition to her role as principal, Carol has been on the state leadership team for Delta Kappa Gamma, President of the Education Alumni of U.C. Berkeley, and has served as the chair for the San Ramon Parks and Community Services Commission for three terms. In 2003 the people of San Ramon elected Carol to serve on San Ramon City Council. Carol has been re-elected to City Council for 2 terms and serves on City Council today.
