Allegheny County, PA May 17, 2011 Election
Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Robert Howard

Candidate for
County Controller; County of Allegheny; Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate

Allegheny County faces serious problems that require a seasoned business executive with controllership experience. I am able to offer that choice to voters. I have done the job of a controller in the private sector. I have experience with budgeting, financial controls, performance audits, and information technology. I will be an independent set of fresh eyes making county government more transparent and accountable to taxpayers and to the users of county services.

The most serious issues result from an unholy alliance between the political class and the special interest groups. Special interest groups endorse and elect the political class who then negotiate unsustainable agreements at the expense of taxpayers and the users of county services. It is time for an independent county controller to fracture this unholy alliance with performance audits, transparency and accountability
