Top 3 Issues
ISSUES:
STATE SPENDING/BUDGET:
It's time to stop the spending. We need to identify the truly essential services from Harrisburg and work back from there. If it is not essential, then it must go.
Since taking office, the Rendell Administration has increased spending by $8.6 billion, nearly twice the rate of inflation. This year's proposed budget is no different. It increases spending by $1.2 billion. The budget also includes $2.76 billion of (one-time) Federal Stimulus Funds. This will cause a need for the 2012 budget to be cut or for taxes to be increased. This is unacceptable in today's economic climate and is just poor accounting.
JOB CREATION:
Businesses must be encouraged to come to Pennsylvania and create meaningful long term jobs. There is a need to create a friendly pro-business climate in the State that can provide tax incentives which will not adversely affect the budget. It is necessary and vital that a variety of methods be developed to help the small business owners and companies that already call Pennsylvania home, methods that will enable them to create additional permanent, quality jobs.
GOVERNMENT REFORM:
"Integrity", "Trust", "Confidence"....these 3 words have been lost in State government. When elected to be your State Representative from the 149th, you can be certain that I will work to put these 3 attributes back into the activity of the State government. Representatives of the people need to understand the sacred trust that voters give to them. Corruption should not be tolerated at any level. In addition, the size and cost of "our" State government must be substantially reduced.
