|
Joe has dedicated his life to serving his neighbors in his local community and throughout Delaware County. A 26-year veteran of local and federal law enforcement, Joe is committed to bringing reforms and accountability to Harrisburg. Joe will also fight to return fiscal responsibility to Harrisburg, opposing tax increases on working families and working to cut waste and abuse in state government. During his more than two and a half decades of public service in law enforcement, Joe rose through the ranks as a patrolman, detective and corporal. He has worked the streets of our community and knows better than anyone how important local knowledge and being in touch with his neighbors is to serving their needs. His outstanding job performance has been formally recognized by the U.S. Department of Treasury, U.S. Postal Service, Ridley Township Board of Commissioners and Delaware County Council to name just a few. Joe is a moral person who has always shown a style of "quiet leadership," always leaving a positive impression on the lives of our youth, protecting our most vulnerable citizens from crime, being a good neighbor and providing for his family. Here are a few highlights of Joe's good works in our community: In 1998, Joe founded and served as the first president of the Delaware County Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation, honoring those men and women in law enforcement who have given the ultimate sacrifice while performing their duties. Joe was recognized for his community service by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Knights of Columbus. Through his many years of service to the community, Hackett was named the Delaware County Police Emerald Society's Man of the Year and the Delaware County Law Enforcement Man of the Year. Joe co-founded the Reunion Cup, an annual golf outing that has raised more than $100,000 for local charities. Joe is active in local youth sports, including the Swarthmorewood Athletic Association, where he has coached and served as a director and vice president. For his work with youth athletics he has been honored by the College Football Hall of Fame, Cardinal O'Hara Hall of Fame and the Delaware County Athletes Hall of Fame. Joe is a lifelong resident of Ridley Township, where he lives with his wife Maureen and two sons, Joseph and Shawn. He is a graduate of Cardinal O'Hara High School and the Delaware County Community College Municipal Police Academy. |
