Rep. Tim Briggs, 40, represents the 149th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Briggs is a committed public servant who was first elected to the House in 2008. As State Representative, Tim is committed to ensuring the 149th District receives a superb level of constituent service and our fair share of state funding for infrastructure and community improvements. In his first campaign Tim knocked on over ten thousand of doors throughout Upper Merion, Bridgeport, West Conshohocken and Lower Merion to hear the voters' concerns and make sure he understood their needs and he has continued that level of accesibility during his first tem in office. As a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Tim Briggs' legislative priorities are driven largely by what he knows best + his family. Tim feels passionately that educating our children is the best investment in the future of the community and the economy. He also is dedicated to ensuring that high quality health care is affordable and accessible for every Pennsylvanian, and is especially concerned about improving women's health care. Tim has been a progressive advocate for the 149th Legislative District. As State Representative, Tim committed to creating a legislative office that is accessible and open and provides the highest level of constituent service to 100% of the residents of our community. Tim's outreach efforts have included having mobile offices monthly throughout the district, hosting annual senior expo's, a family green fest, and a number of town hall/constituent breakfasts as well as sponsored an essay contest ("there ought to be a law") for fifth grade students throughout the district. Tim is largely driven to expose our younger residents about state government and public service and enjoys visiting class room visits as well giving tours of the State Capitol. Born in Montgomery County, Tim's and his wife Robyn settled in Upper Merion Township in 1999, where they now raise their four young children, Emily, Jack, Alexandra and Morrison. He received his undergraduate degree in political science from West Chester University. At age 30, Tim returned to school to fulfill a personal goal and attain his law degree at Temple University Law School, working full time and attending night classes. He joined the firm of Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin as an associate in January 2008. Public service has always been close to Tim's heart. Throughout his career, he has served as an advisor to County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel and state Senator Connie Williams. Tim hopes to continue the high level of service provided by these public servants. Tim is one of only two freshman legislators to have been selected to serve on the powerful House Appropriations, as well as serving on the Children & Youth, Finance and Local Government committees. He also serves as a member of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. |
