Why Bill is running for the OVSD Board and who he is...

From experience with watershed planning and local efforts to restore parts of the Ventura River, I think it is time for the OVSD Board to build upon its Sewer District foundation and address the broader picture of being a Sanitary District.

With increasing needs to consider treatment for the whole waste stream, it is time to look for ways to recycle water, use grey water, obtain energy from waste, and keep costs to those who need to join the sewer system to a minimum. Use and income from wastes is not a new idea, but it needs the OVSD Board attention.

I would like to contribute my experience to our community by providing a watershed view of treating and using the waste water and solid wastes, and my training and experience as a professional Civil Engineer. It is time for the next generation of community member's to step into the shoes of those who have built the OVSD into what it is today and take the next step.

For these reasons, I have decided to put my name in the hat for Division 4 Director of OVSD, to be part of the next step.

Who is Bill?

Bill and his family have lived in Meiners Oaks since 1999. He is a Registered Civil and Agricultural Engineer with over 25-years of experience in water resources engineering and planning. He has been active in the community as a scout leader (scoutmaster for 9 years) and other youth groups, is on the Ventura River Council, represented Ojai in the NPDES Stormwater Permit negotiations and is currently the chair of the Ojai Valley Green Coalition's watershed committee. As a project manger he has led a number of watershed planning studies that include use of wastewater treatment plant effluent, water quality in streams, and been responsible for design of river embankment restoration, flood protection, and water recycling projects.
