Transparency is critical A major goal that I will strive to achieve is transparency. Transparency in all things. The outrages in Bell and elsewhere have illustrated what can happen when citizens are not paying attention. Transparency may not guarantee ethical behavior, honesty, and quality performance, but transparency can help to make such behavior more likely. An appropriate metaphor is that `sunlight is the best disinfectant.'

We have the opportunity, through the recent actions of Directors Linda Parks, Janna Orkney, and Michael Paule, to vote for the entire Board. A famous long serving politician is credited for having said "all politics is local." The Triunfo District is about as local as possible.

My perception is that the District is doing an excellent job. I will act to assist the professional staff in maintaining a high level of performance and finding new ways to improve effectiveness and contain or lower costs. I also believe that greater outreach is necessary.
