GEOFFREY BRIDE, candidate for City Council, moved to Thousand Oaks in 2007 after living in Los Angeles for six years. A native of Massachusetts, Mr. Bride has lived in Maine, New Hampshire, New York City and Great Britain. His dad, a high school English teacher, was fond of Geoffrey Chaucer, and thus decided to name his second son, Geoffrey. In the many places Mr. Bride has lived, Thousands Oaks is the city he loves.
A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Bride earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications. During his teenage years, Mr. Bride earned a private pilot license continued through college to earn his instrument, commercial, multi-engine and instructor ratings. With close to 2000 hours, Mr. Bride is active in Ventura County as a flight instructor specializing in technologically advanced glass cockpit aircraft like the G1000 Garmin equipped Diamond 40 and 42.
Mr. Bride's professional background is varied and diverse working as a radio broadcaster for radio and news weather reports; as a reporter for the NPR station WBUR in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Bride also was fixed income broker with series 7 license working in the Capitals Markets division selling corporate bonds for a regional investment bank in Boston. For the past ten years, Mr. Bride was a flight school marketing manager, regional sales director for a fractional aircraft company, and executive aircraft broker and now currently employed as a independent flight instructor flying out of Oxnard.
An avid reader and library patron, Mr. Bride enjoys reading and discussing U.S. History and the U.S. Constitution. His favorite author is Ralph Waldo Emerson, and is especially fond of the essays "Self-Reliance" and "The Oversoul". Mr. Bride enjoys many fitness activities like skiing, golf, running, and hiking in the local mountains in Southern California. He is also a big fan of the NFL, MLB, and the NBA.
Mr. Bride has traveled extensively across Europe and South East Asia. "Traveling is a great education". He is learning to speak Thai, and he can understand more than he can speak. It's humbling to speak Thai, only to be answered in English. Learning a new language "stimulates the mind". In his travels in the United States, he cites the Grand Canyon as "stunningly beautiful" and Yellowstone as "beyond amazing".
Mr. Bride supports many conservative values including--limited government, lower taxes, more personal freedom, rule of law, strong military and family values. Mr. Bride is not married, but he enjoys being an uncle to his nieces and nephews.
With many goals yet to accomplish Mr. Bride would like to be elected into office--it would be an honor and a privilege to serve. Favorite Emerson quote , "To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men - that is genius." |
