The education system is failing our children. We are now ranked 48th out of 50 states in quality. There must be change.
The system is topheavy with administration and less money is going into the classroom. More bureauracy equals less education. There are over 1000 school districts in California. This number can be reduced and the savings placed into the classoom. Lump sum spending is not working and wasts money. Adjoining school districts can combine their buying power to save money thru quantity purchases. This could save millions.
I would propose to develop an internship program for high school seniors. It would give them greater experience in the real world and help in getting a job. It is already being successfully used in both private and public schools.
