My district is one of the best places in the world to live, and we need to keep it that way for ourselves, our tourists and future generations.Government/business partnerships can help solve many of our environmental problems, and it as a great way to create more jobs, grow more businesses and improve the economic health and stability of our district. California has long been a leader in environmental standards. And, this necessity has been the mother of invention, creating new technologies, new products and growing businesses. The catalytic converter is one such product. Studies show that high environmental standards in fact contribute positively to our economy. We should not lower our goals expressed in AB 32 even temporarily; it is not worth the damage to the health of children, nor the future expense it will require to redo projects. And, we must maintain our green techn leadership and jobs as other states and countries complete with us. As a participnat in a Sierra Club survey of the energy and environmental progress of Orange County cities, I can say that cities have found energy saving lighting and other devices to provid significant cost savings. More project and jobs whould result as the next steps are taken. I will work to do the following in Sacramento:
