Jobs and the Economy + I have led local efforts to expand our economy and create new jobs during my years as a Supervisor, including more than 12,000 new jobs at McClellan Park. I have also worked to preserve and protect existing jobs, wages, and benefits. This area would continue to be a high priority for me.

Universal Healthcare for California - We must start by providing universal access to health care for every Californian. We should not be sitting back and waiting for Washington to do its job. We are the largest state with the most pressing crisis and the highest population of uninsured and inadequately covered citizens. We should therefore be leading by example with a system that finally guarantees comprehensive, high-quality coverage for all. I have spent my years on the Board of Supervisors working at the local, state, and national levels to address the needs of the under-served for health and human services. I would continue to pursue that priority as a state legislator.

Education and Youth Investment - I have been deeply involved in efforts to improve educational opportunities in the community and to promote youth investment in order to strengthen children and families, improve communities, and use our resources more wisely. These areas would continue to be priorities for me.
