Jobs and the EconomyBy Michelle ConnorCandidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 8 | |

Michelle on her goal of having a more business-friendly California.California needs more Jobs! 2.2 million Californians are out of work, and businesses are being pushed out of the state by high taxes and bureaucratic restrictions that make business ineffective. In Solano County, the unemployment rate was 12.2% as of April 2010. In Yolo County, it was 12.9%. Over the past two years the global economy has been in a deep recession. This recession has collapsed banks, large and small businesses, and the housing market. To combat this recession California needs a business-friendly atmosphere that will encourage private enterprise, and less regulation to not hamper business growth. But at this moment we have a state that has overly regulated every aspect of business across all industries. This corporate atmosphere has business fleeing the state to Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Oregon. Michelle Connor believes that making California more business friendly is critical to the revitalizing of California's economy and keeping and creating jobs. Privately owned businesses need more freedom and fewer restrictions from the government. Industry in California can best create jobs when they have control of the capital they bring in. Growth becomes stifled when their profits are eroded by heavy taxes and fees, driving the businesses out of state and thereby lowering state revenue. If elected as your representative in Sacramento Michelle would work towards cutting unnecessary taxes by 1 to 7%. Eliminating unnecessary paperwork and fees will make it easier and more affordable for employers to hire workers. Michelle's goal is to help create a more business-friendly environment in California, that would change the state's economic tide, resulting in job creation, businesses starting up and returning to California and eventually the restoration of the state as a world economic power and forbearer of innovation.
