1. Why are you interested in being the state assemblyperson from District 3 and what are your qualifications?
Answer from Gary Clayton Bryant:
Just to let the people know that the Libertarian Party exists , and time for all to stop throwing away their votes on the R's & D's that has been bankrupting our state for many decades. And has gotten very intrusive in all of our financial and personal lives ! I am a small business owner for 19 years ( of the 30 years total ) in the flooring trade .

2. What is your position on single-payer health care?
Answer from Gary Clayton Bryant:
It does not work ! Look to Canada , United Kingdom , and Europe . Government manage care isn't effective . From immediate care to quality care , it is enormously less . We need to listen and learn from all of these countries that are telling us do not do this ! Furthermore , there won't be enough doctors due to the over regulations that they all encounter . That is why many doctors quit !!! Go to lp.org - headlines section , click to view all news . On 12/25/09 ( page 3 ) Dr Mary Ruwart wrote an article called " How Liberty Makes Health Care Virtually Universal " . That explains my position ...

3. California is in a budget crisis. What steps would you take to improve the state’s financial situation?
Answer from Gary Clayton Bryant:
Cut salaries / pensions of Governors , State Senators , and State Assembly . Push for part-time legislation ! Cut / eliminate at least 2/3 of the over 500 commissions / agencies . Eliminate the IRS and go with a sales tax only which is less costly to collect and will generate the economy and more revenue .
4. What do you think of the super-majority requirement for passing budgetary items?
Answer from Gary Clayton Bryant:
If it is 2/3's majority , I am all for that . We are about rule of law not " plus one mob rule " .
5. Do you support changes in the state’s constitution and, if so, what changes would you like to see?
Answer from Gary Clayton Bryant:
To condense , simplify it . Limited role for government in our personal & financial lives . For example ,cut or eliminate the any types of state income tax and go with a sales tax only . Not give immunity to government and agencies that has unlimited power . Part-time legislation . Eliminate AB-32 . Anything that can promote more effective government and liberty . Enforce laws that are already there not make more laws .
6. What choices must the legislature and Governor make to align the state’s spending and revenue in a way that addresses the need for sufficient and flexible revenue sources that can provide for both state and local government services? How would you prioritize them?
Answer from Gary Clayton Bryant:
Cut / eliminate the over 500 commissions , agencies . Also liquidate lands , properties , and buildings . Eliminate the IRS that is way too costly to collect taxes - sales tax only . Part-time legislation only . When having a surplus revenue ( if ever ) , put funds in a " save for a rainy day " savings/fund box . Overall, to be fiscally responsible ! Let Counties and Cities have most of the sales tax ...

7. The north state is being pressured to provide more water to the central valley and southern California. What are your views on the best way to protect north state water?
Answer from Gary Clayton Bryant:
I would like it to be North ( or Northern ) California State . Southern California needs to build their own plants and water supply not from the peripheral canal ! Our farmers need the water due to the latest fiasco (smelt) where they got shut down .
8. There has been decreasing support for education across the state. What would you do to improve California’s education system?
Answer from Gary Clayton Bryant:
Give parents a lot less taxation and more choice over their child's education ( with the funds that they are not forced to pay through taxes ) . Separation of education and state is what I believe . Schools would hire better teachers and be more productive . As for right now , Cut / eliminate the over 500 agencies/commissions and cut/eliminate all other parts of State government that would not threaten education and law enforcement . I ask for Education to be fiscally responsible when budgeting . I hear many times of funds being squandered .
