Here are my priorities as Windsor School Board Candidate. My hope is that this list will give the voters an idea of my philosophy, and the value I bring to the school board.

  • I believe in maximum parental involvement, integration and notification in the educational process.

  • I am deeply committed to supporting professional educators, specifically classroom teachers, in doing their job well. My business experience has taught me that an abundance of bureaucracy curtails and interrupts productivity--a classroom setting is no different.

  • In a time of tightening budgets, financial restraint must be exercised and greater productivity and efficiency sought. The education of our children must be our highest priority, and I will fight special interests that seek to influence educational policy and financial decisions.

  • I believe in a "hands off" approach, meaning no undue interference in the educational process or the functioning of the district. I am committed to placing competent professionals in positions of authority and relying on their judgment and skill as much as possible.

  • I am strongly committed to safety and creating an ideal learning environment for our children. This includes support for law enforcement on-campus presence and preventative/at risk programs, after-school programs, and emergency preparedness programs.

  • Open communication should exist between board members and all involved in the education process-- improving communication with classroom teachers directly, as well as parents and students is a priority. All should feel comfortable bringing issues to the board or to me personally, regardless of subject matter or "proper channels."

  • I believe in hard work, and creating "win-win" situations. This applies to negotiations of all sorts, both within the Board and without. Also, I believe in careful analysis of both micro and macro effects, to avoid and limit unintended consequences stemming from decisions.

  • I believe that fresh ideas and a fresh perspective are valuable in public office, and change is needed.
